Strong Cities works with its city members, national governments and international partners to marshal financial and in-kind resources

Since its launch in September 2015, Strong Cities has benefited from support from a range of national governments, including inter alia Australia, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, the United Kingdom, and the United States (including through the Departments of Homeland Security), as well as funding from the European Union (Service for Foreign Policy Instruments) through the STRIVE Cities Initiative. The Network also receives voluntary and in-kind contributions from its members, the private sector and philanthropic foundations, including inter alia Irving Goldman Family Foundation and Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation.

The Network also receives voluntary support from its members. Members such as Aurora (Colorado, USA), Berlin (Germany), Colombus (Ohio, USA), Denver (Colorado, USA), Edmonton (Ontario, Canada), Halle (Germany), Greater Manchester and London (United Kingdom), New York City (New York, USA), Oslo (Norway), The Hague (Netherlands), and the State of Victoria (Australia).

Donations are processed via the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD), which hosts the Strong Cities Network.

How you can support Strong Cities

  1. Support for activities across Strong Cities priority areas, including through an existing Regional Hub, for example, supporting a national-local coordination dialogue or workshop(s) on a specific thematic priority.
  2. Support to launch a Regional Hub in a new priority region, for example, Coastal West Africa, North America, South America, or Southeast Asia.
  3. Support for cross-regional learning and sharing around one or more priority areas.
  4. Support for country-focused city-to-city learning and sharing across one or more priority areas.
  5. Support for city-focused technical support and capacity-building, including the development of local prevention mandates, policies and mechanisms for sustained engagement between local government and young people.
  6. Institutional funding to help build and sustain the Network’s infrastructure and activities not covered by grants.

Sustainable Impact

Our dedicated Monitoring and Evaluation function ensures that the Network’s impact and results are assessed against key indicators, that our methods of engagement are adjusted accordingly, that we are continually improving efficacy of the Network, and providing expertise aligned to city needs and priorities.
