Community Prevention Network of Majdal Anjar organises a Strong Cities PVE camp

Over thirty young people from Majdal Anjar took part in a three-day Prevention of Violent Extremism (PVE) camp and a one-day Strong Cities training on conflict transformation organised by the Community Prevention Network of Majdal Anjar, in collaboration with the local civil society organization “Youth Initiatives”.

Among the priorities set by the municipal-led Community Prevention Network of Majdal Anjar was to bring Lebanese and Syrian youths together to foster positive interactions.

The training and the camp are part of a series of planned activities targeting young people in Majdal Anjar, with the purpose of providing them with the necessary tools and arguments to reject and counter hate speech, prejudice and radicalisation in their local communities. The sessions included interactive modules on non-violent communication and discussions and exercises on the notions of tolerance and social cohesion.

The two activities have greatly helped the participants understand the importance of opposing violence and allowed them to build strong relations both with each other and the Community Prevention Network.
