In May 2018, the Strong Cities Network and YouthCAN initiative delivered a joint “Lab” on developing effective campaigns. Hosted in Beirut, the lab trained more than 25 youth from across Tripoli, Majdal Anjar and Saida on how to develop an effective campaign.
One of the lab’s successes was the launch of the “Stray Bullets Kill Joy” campaign, which addresses the unnecessary use of guns during weddings, exam celebrations, elections and other events. The campaign holds personal significance to the campaigners, since some have been directly affected with the loss of loved ones from stray bullets. Earlier this month, members of the campaign and Local Prevention Network in Tripoli met with the Mayor of Tripoli, who expressed his support at a municipal level.
